(C)The nature of stress

Updated: Oct 3, 2020

We had to eliminate the stress, the stress from our situation and the stress from not making or creating something by our usual means.

Our expectations had to release themselves, to accept the conditions that where affecting our lives in upheaval of Covid 19.

In NZ we had gone into full lock down, unsure how long it was going to last and whether we would go back to our regular jobs. Georgie and Gesa where not in lockdown but restrictions where in place.

NZ was changing too Autumn and Finland to Spring.

Seeing this transition in Georgie and Gesa as they switched to warmer clothes, transferred an optimism to us in NZ. The sight of warmer days and skin exposed, these oppositional seasons reflected the cyclical change of things continuing on.

Our project has become fluid allowing for whatever we can achieve while keeping our mental and emotional wellbeing a priority.

Our efforts are accepted as enough and land becomes a respite to mirror the grounded strength found in both the body of land and the body of an individual.

Covid has impacted how we achieve our 'normal' level of expectation for a project, by having a different timeline and a huge distance between us, eliminating our previous ways of producing work.

The anxiety of traversing this new territory and failing forces me to spend time on my garden to put action toward spring and perceive a meeting of my friends in their time of spring.

Creating in the wood wide web.

“When I say, ‘Trees suckle their children,’ everyone knows immediately what I mean.” PETER WOHLLEBEN "Wood Wide Web"

"Digging in the dirt really does lift your spirits. The digging stirs up microbes in the soil. Inhaling these microbes can stimulate serotonin production, which can make you feel relaxed and happier." Forbes
