(B)Thresholds of light and substance

Updated: Sep 28, 2020

Our conversations in the digital platforms of Zoom, Facebook and Instagram thrust us out toward our environments in our respective I(s)lands as if in opposition to this unusual way of working on screens.

Into the "wood wide web" connecting ourselves in light, transitional spaces and environmental elements.

It felt like we where reaching each other and exploring the sensations that move from one place to another, one substance to another to find a new way of communicating via each land and sea.

In some ways it strengthened our ability to have a kinaesthetic response via a digital medium. How could we reach a shared meaning across our distance?

Our initial zoom calls brought awareness to the craving for intimacy and the inability to realise this desire by our normal means of dancing in a studio together.

We would have profound sensory responses during our improvisations together and then come back to the reality that we where still far away from each other.

We talked about the future when we could finally be in the same room as an antidote to this emptiness found in lack of a resolution our feelings of missing each other.
